The Aftermath....
There is always an enormous amount of good work happening throughout the world and it would be very easy for us to be consumed by the pace, size and challenge of it all, particularly as what we do matters to many thousands of people. For these reasons and because many of us are passionate about global issues and proud of what we contribute to people's lives, we focus very hard on providing services that we are capable of.
However, what is happening around the globe makes it difficult to focus on our target. Many of our lives had changed and will continue to change in ways we are yet to comprehend. We have been reminded forcibly that we live in an uncertain world and will now be part of a chain of events which will have an impact globally within our communities.
On a personal level, we are struggling to make sense of the waste and disregard for human life ( as many of our refugees have struggled in their lives) We are finding many of the feelings engendered - fear, anger, confusion and despair - are present in our work situations simply by the nature of what we do. .....
